Trip tips

High-end resorts and all-inclusive packages should not be booked by those organising adventurous training ski trips.

The guidance has been set out in a new ABN from Headquarters Army Adventurous Training Group.   It replaces the former ski letter issued to commanding officers of units undergoing trips, which was identified as often arriving too late in the planning cycle, resulting in key information being overlooked.

Consequently, there have been instances of booking popular resorts unsuitable for teaching foundation one and two courses.

The new document stresses the benefits of the planning process and reminds soldiers to seek value-for-money options in countries such as Slovenia and Norway. For more details see ABN 044/2025
